With all that is happening in our world right now, it is important for us to stay grounded and receive healing from the earth. I always tell my students that one way to honor the earth and your shamanic life, is to have a ritual you do each day that will ground you and connect you to the earth.
Some students get nervous when I mention having a ritual. But it is so easy. It can take one minute or ten minutes. A simple ritual is to greet the sun as it rises each morning. Or talk to the trees in your backyard. Or welcome your power animal into your day. Smudge yourself. Go for a walk and talk to the wildlife and the trees and plants on your way. If you use tarot or oracle cards, choose a card each day with the intention of receiving a message for the day.
I live alone and so when I open up my shades in the morning I greet the plants in my house, and I touch them and I tell them how beautiful they are. When I see the sun rising in the sky, I'll say "Hello Sun, thank you for shining and bringing light." I may drum a bit---just a few minutes, to feel the vibrations and to raise my own. When I feed the birds I smile and welcome them for breakfast. When I pick an oracle card, I pay attention to my day for the message that it brings.
The whole point is to interact with the world around you in a sacred and respectful way. Be present. And as you do this daily, don't be surprised if the birds or the plants or the sun respond back to you. Listen. You'll hear them in your heart.
Notice the beauty around you today, and receive it's blessings.
